Advocacy for Carers

Our Carers Advocacy and Support Worker can help you by speaking on your behalf, or supporting you to speak for yourself at meetings and consultations where you might not wish to be alone.  On many occasions we do not even have to say anything, just our being present at a meeting is the only support that a carer needs to be able to speak up for him or herself!

Sometimes advocacy is carried out in writing, by helping you to write letters, or writing them for you with your permission.

For instance there may be a planned review meeting with Social and Caring Services and you are worried that in the heat of the moment you might not think of everything you want to raise.

If you think that you need the support of an advocate about something connected with your caring role, then please contact us so we can explain further.  Other advocacy organisations exist if the issue is not to do with your caring role, and we can give you their details if you ask us.
