FLU - if our service is affected by swine flu, details of closures, reduced service or cancellation of events will be on staff members' answerphones and on our Enquiry Line 01903 536378.  If this occurs,  please bear with us whilst the staff recover and the service gets back to normal, and we apologise for any
 inconvenience

Emotional Support

Emotional Support for Carers is part of the Carers Support Service and can offer:

  • Face to face, confidential, free counselling with volunteer counsellors, all of whom have professional supervision
  • Individual telephone support, through Phone Support for Carers - a trained volunteer makes a regular phone call to you, to enable you to talk
  • Group telephone support, a way of getting in touch with a group of other carers in similar situations, through being available on your own phone at a set time each week

If you would like to find out more about any of these services, please phone Gill Ersser or Ian Stuart on 01903 528629.  If they are not in, please leave a message, they will call you back as soon as they are in the office.

Our Phone Support service relies very heavily on volunteers, who work closely with the paid staff members to provide emotional support and a listening ear to carers.  We are always looking for more volunteers to help us maintain this part of our service, could it be YOU ?  Some of our volunteers have been carers themselves, and some have an interest in carers issues.  Full training will be provided in telephone skills, and you can also access any of the Guild Care training courses available, free of charge.  All we ask is that you be available say  3 mornings or afternoons each month.  Please contact Gill or Ian for more details on 01903 528629 or email ian.stuart@guildcare.org
