Other Services

We have two specialist services:

Older Carers of People with Learning Difficulties

The Carers Liaison service appointed Liz Hall in April 2004, to the post of Carers Link Worker - Learning Difficulties, initially a 1-year post, funded by Social and Caring Services.

What is an Older Carers Link Worker?

The main role of an Older Carers Link Worker is to support older carers of people with learning difficulties in West Sussex.

Why Do Older Carers Need a Link Worker?

It is well understood that the family and friends of people with learning difficulties are the experts on how best to care for them.  It is the role of the Link Worker to support you so that you can care in the way that you always have, for as long as is possible.  The service that the Link Worker will provide is based on YOUR NEEDS AS A CARER.  This is a service ABOUT you and FOR you.

How Can the Link Worker Support You?

She can support you as little or as much as you want her to. Some of the things she may be able to do to help you are:

  • Provide information on benefits, support groups, services, housing options, wills and trusts, carers’ assessments etc.

  • Work together to develop a ‘Crisis Plan’ so that you can be sure that the person you care for will be properly looked after in a crisis.

  • Make regular visits or telephone calls to talk generally over your concerns or problems.

Carers of working age adults who have a mental health problem which is not dementia
