AFASIC – UNLOCKING SPEECH & LANGUAGE Aims to increase awareness and recognition of communication impairments, leading to early assessment and diagnosis, and better educational provision, employment and training prospects. Offers advice, information, support, seminars/workshops, self help groups and a newsletter. www.afasic.org.uk SPEAKABILITY (ACTION FOR DYSPHASIC ADULTS)For people with dysphasia and carers of people with communication difficulties following a stroke, head injury or brain tumour. Local group meets on the last Wednesday of each month at United Reformed Church Hall, Shaftesbury Avenue, Goring. www.speakability.org.uk SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SERVICE This is a comprehensive service for children and adults who may be experiencing communication and/or swallowing problems. Therapists work in a wide range of locations and offer diagnosis, assessment, treatment and advice. Referrals can be made via your GP practice or you can contact the service direct.
